Social networkers = spin doctors (hopefully)

January 7, 2008 By Anne 1 Comment

Let's hope a growing number of young social networkers understand that, on the social Web, personal communications is pretty much public relations. In "Net users are becoming their own reputation managers," a CNET commentator provides a good reminder. What our parents shared in private diaries, letters and phone conversations and we shared in all the above plus emails, our children are sharing in … [Read more...] about Social networkers = spin doctors (hopefully)

2008: Whose info is whose?

January 4, 2008 By Anne Leave a Comment

One of the things we'll all need to sort out on the social Web is what content belongs to who. Is your profile your content or that of the service hosting it? She's a member of a Facebook group with more than 172,000 members called "Thirty Reasons Girls Should Call it a Night," which has a page linking to 5,000 photos of drunk college students - many of them … [Read more...] about Very public binge drinking

Fresh data on phone-based porn

December 12, 2007 By Anne Leave a Comment

"Revenues from mobile 'adult services' are set to approach $3.5 billion by 2010," reports VNUNET in the UK. It's citing new findings by Juniper Research, which says the growth "will be fuelled by increasing adoption of streamed video and video chat" on phones and "a sharp rise" in the use of "3G" or smart phones that are really Net-connected computers more than mere communications devices. A lot … [Read more...] about Fresh data on phone-based porn
