Acting out for the videocam

February 15, 2007 By Anne Leave a Comment

But that’s not all they’re doing to up their ratings in video-sharing sites, the New York Times reports: “boys holding cell phones under the lunch table to photograph up girls' skirts; an innocent kiss at a party posted out of context on an ex-boyfriend's Web site; someone bursting in on friends who are in the bathroom or sleeping, drinking or smoking; students goading teachers into tantrums; … [Read more...] about Acting out for the videocam

Police on Long Island in New York said the video, uploaded to two Web sites, "showed … [Read more...] about Teen cyberbullies charged

The little snippet about "anti-social networking" at the bottom of "Mr. Know-It-All's" column in Wired, after advice about checking spouses' browser history and whether IM-ing is ruining teenagers' spelling and grammar, is really about social engineering. It offers advice to users who have problems with friends on the social Web: … [Read more...] about ‘Anti-social networking’

January 4, 2007 By Anne Leave a Comment

Two professors who have been focusing on cyberbullying for some time just presented a study of teenage MySpace use which found "most teens are behaving responsibly in the type of information they post about their lives," the Miami Herald reports. Prof. Sameer Hinduja, a criminology professor at Florida Atlantic University, and Justin Patchin, an assistant professor of criminal justice at the … [Read more...] about Most teens safe in MySpace: Study
