Stalking texters, sexting monsters: A bit of help

February 3, 2009 By Anne 1 Comment

You wouldn't think that the guy who made "Extreme PB&J Sandwich Making" would be an excellent source of advice on establishing digital boundaries. But YouTube and post-YouTube star Brandon Hardesty delivers brilliantly in his 4.5 minute video "What If" in ThatsNotCool.com. If your kid even knows someone who knows someone who's getting pressured by a peer to send nude photos of him or herself via … [Read more...] about Stalking texters, sexting monsters: A bit of help

Watchdog’s study on YouTube

December 31, 2008 By Anne Leave a Comment

The Parents Television Council recently did its first study of online media, logically deciding to focus on YouTube - I guess the Web site closest to replicating the broadcast medium, though far from the only video-sharing site youth use. The survey, commissioned by the nonprofit National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and … [Read more...] about Is ‘sexting’ a teen trend?: Study

"Students at Salem High School were allegedly circulating graphic photos of fellow, underage female students among themselves via cell phone, prompting a police investigation," the New Hampshire Union Leader reports. Police said photos of at least two girls were disseminated … [Read more...] about Teens’ nude photo-sharing in NH

Middle-schoolers arrested for nude photos

March 13, 2008 By Anne 1 Comment

Four sixth- and seventh-graders in Alabama were arrested for taking and sending nude photos of themselves with their cellphones. The two boys and two girls "were charged with possession of material harmful to minors, a misdemeanor," the Birmingham (Ala.) Press-Register reports, adding that "the law was intended to prevent copies of hardcore pornography from sitting on the same shelves as Sports … [Read more...] about Middle-schoolers arrested for nude photos
