Is ‘sexting’ a teen trend?: Study

December 17, 2008 By Anne Leave a Comment

Just how pervasive is 'sexting,' the nude-photo-sharing by cellphone that seems to be happening a lot? I've seen reports of the practice in more than a dozen US states, New Hampshire the latest one (see this). A new study tried to get a handle on just how much this is happening, if not why. The survey, commissioned by the nonprofit National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and … [Read more...] about Is ‘sexting’ a teen trend?: Study

New global service for getting nudes off the Internet

February 28, 2023 By Anne 1 Comment

Why partner with teens on tech: Great new book

September 12, 2022 By Anne 3 Comments

At this transitional moment for digital tech and youth online safety, the new book Behind Their Screens: What Teens Are Facing (and Adult Are Missing) feels almost miraculous to me. The first reason why is that it’s more about teens than screens. Since the beginning of public concern about youth online safety in the late 1990s, we have been almost obsessively focused on the technology, not so … [Read more...] about Why partner with teens on tech: Great new book

If anything needs to go viral, it’s this…

July 2, 2021 By Anne 1 Comment

...the message, "Report it. Don't share it."  The "it" in this public awareness campaign Facebook just launched is child sexual abuse material (CSAM), the accurate term for what is typically called "child pornography" in the United States. Thankfully, it's extremely unlikely you'll ever see content like this. "The prevalence of this content on our platform is very low," Facebook researchers … [Read more...] about If anything needs to go viral, it’s this…
